There you go, it's just the same as if I were to study say...Medicine using English as the language medium.  There are a lot of medical terms I'm going to have to learn - but because I'm generally "capable" where English is concerned, I think I'll be alright.

So yeah, if you study your arse off in your language year you should be alright.  I didn't say it'd be easy...it won't, obviously.

......i love being optimistic ...but medicine/engineering  and the likes are courses which are bettter done in english to ease the headache on the part of th student....easier courses  should be ok though i think..

Wao.... Cheesy..thats a good one Collins....its prity...tricky i guess...studying,in china has it's own +tive and negatives.. Undecided...it's fair in fees but then..some subjects..might be alittle complex to enhance...due to the barrier in communcation Embarrassed....determination,on the other hand sometimes is the key in succes,if your in to studying well.....dont let the....sloppy road stop you do your best... Smiley.infact where there is a will there is a way Wink....when the road gets thougher...dig on... >:(but when you get stuck..dont pass your time..... Roll Eyes... standing look for a better way and be smart.. Cool...sometimes in life you have to seat down and watch your path carefuly,or the spine of life might just pass you by as you try and crash a wall that is to hard .Always have a plan B... Wink.....cheers.

I disagree.  I don't like having to study everything in Chinese but I'm glad it is the way it is.  You come to China to learn things their way, if you want to study medicine or engineering in English - you're in the wrong place.

Shanghai, four years now and counting!

I have had many friends studying medicine in China. Of them, one is back home (Uganda) practicing, another has gone to Germany, and after further specialization is now pursuing a very successful career there. A third one, from my country, has married a classmate from Mauritius, has followed his wife and now working in a hospital there. A fourth one, also from Togo, who studied in the 80s, has been a doctor in a Chinese hospital for years here in Shanghai, opened a clinic back home, came back to China (he has married a Chinese and they have three very beautiful daughters) for his PHD, and now has emigrated to Luxembourg where he has been hired to head a private medical center.

There are many examples like that, I don't think there is a big deal in studying in Chinese after all. Medicine ain't easy no matter you study it, in China or any other place. But if you are in the right institution and set up your mind to succeed, well you will do just that. So good luck!

Are you talking about an university in mainland China (Suzhou) or one in Taiwan? The link provided by Sally is for an university in Taipei I think. Taiwan and the mainland have completely different education systems.

There are tens of universities looking good on paper, have a great website and offer all the majors you could think of, but many have been disappointed upon arrival in China that the place they were expecting to study isn't quite the same as the one they were expecting... Grin
