A recent NY Times article stated that the Bird Flu is out of control in Indonesia, Nigeria and Egypt. It stated that China's numbers were less certain. However, it is still quite a worry since the fatality rate has climbed to 61% up from 43% in 1995. I didn't worry about it when I was there, although I saw quite a few Chinese wearing masks. I also ate lots of chicken, duck and everything else. So I thought I would ask: Have any of you been affected by this looming pandemic

You don't get it from eating bird, if it's cooked right...You have to be around live birds or preparing the raw meat for cooking. 

Beware...鸟感冒就来！ (that's a foreigner learning Chinese joke)....sorry if it's offensive.
