Nefertiti, this shouldnt eat u. this things is occuring everywhere and not only in china,so u should move to shanghai and witness things by urself.

Collinstexas is right. I have been in China for almost 8 years and have never been attacked. And have many friends who have been working here for even longer and never had a security problem. So don't worry when moving here 

Just be careful with your pocket. Those pick piocket thief will pick no matter where you come from. For most people it is the only security issue.

Neferetiti China is very safe. I live in Shanghai , out here u can walk about anytime of the day with no fears. Be reasonably vigilant as u would in any other place.

..............dont worry chinese people are very peaceful and if you hear a black person was attacked its only coz of him going after some bad guys woman in most cases,  been here for a long time and the cases i see or hear in guangzhou is always about  some fufu filled guy going after some triads women and being thumped silly i have come to know that...keep off their women unless ur sure she is very single and open to such relationships.period.

A fight is possible when drunk people meet drunk people. It is nothing to do with the colour.
