I am currently working in Nanjing. I found there is a considerable amount of black population.

Sometimes I didn't see any white people on the street the whole day, but i saw a bunch  of black people. However,  i am not sure if they are from Africa or US or europe.

I am suprised that there is no post at all in the Nanjing section.
So no one from Nanjing is a member here???

Hey, I'm currently in Shanghai right now. Are you from the States?

Sorry I just saw your reply. Is this what makes you think I am being something i am not?
I just settled down in Nanjing and don't know a single person here. I am a foreigner no less than anyone here. So I really want to make some friends. Before i moved here, I have some black friends in Shanghai who are American. As for myself, friends come from all races and all nations.  Maybe you could be one.

No offense, but you've been sending off mixed signals. There have been too many people on this website lately sending off mixed signals and I've had enough of it. You could be purple and I'd still be your friend, so I don't really care where you're from. That's not exactly the issue. It's the annoying mixed signals that so many people (esp. witness) have been giving off too frequently and sometimes it sends off negative vibes. As far as the Hip Hop in China article was concerned, I wasn't trying to disprove your point. The basis of my argument was that you were sending off mixed signals. It's like being a diplomat and going to a foreign country without letting that foreign country know which country you're coming from. It's also like dating someone for three years and still not knowing their name. I hope you understand where I'm coming from. Perhaps I've been on this forum for too long. School will be starting soon anyway.

Take care everyone,

John

Sorry man. I didn't know my identity was so important here. I lived in New York for three years. So if i am sending off mixed signals, that's because I have a mixed background. Anyway, if you are an active member here, you should have known where i am from, cause I introduced myself since the first day I was here.

It seems that i have to be very careful about what i say here. I believed color doesn't matter. But I didn't know I have to reclarify my race and origin here again and again. A foreigner is still a foreigner. Maybe this forum should remove Shanghai from its name so that no chinese will be messing around here. Sorry to be an intruder to your forum...

Afroshanghai has never been a "black only" thing, Chinese and others are welcome to participate in the discussions, and actually some of our most active members are Chinese with or without an American background.

I think you misunderstood John's words and he never meant that you or any Chinese friend were not allowed in the forums. His only concern was that though you said you are Chinese some of your words seem rather written by someone who is not Chinese. Now that you have clarified things I think it comes to an end. So do not take it personally.

Hope to read more of you in the forums.
