Do you all have happy hours, outings?  If so how frequent? I love to hang out.  Hopefully the long hours with my assignment will not have a huge impact. What type of music do they play in the clubs?  How safe is it for an African-American female to venture out alone in the evening?  How many people speak English?  How much of a disadvantage will I be not knowing any mandarin.  How easy is it to take the subway, with out being able to read mandarin?

Danielle,

Did you find a hairdresser or braider? I'd like to avoid having to take a trip to Beijing (although I will if that is the only option). Thanks in advance.
