The practice of doing homestay is actually gaining popularity in China, especially in Shanghai. More and more locals are inviting foreigners to stay in their homes because they can exchange cultures. Homestay is actually a good idea for foreigners looking for a place to stay in China. You get to interact and learn a lot of great things from the locals, like Mandarin and Chinese cuisine.
