i don't know if you have read this scandal but you should. It greatly upset me. I suggest we set up a letter writing campaign demanding an apology from Chinese netizens. Atleast we could bombard the original website that posted this nonesense. For once lets get up off our asses and support our dignity.

Her father was called a black bastard for not being there and the daughter was called a monkey. These insults were hurled at Luo Jing, a half Chinese half black woman who competed in “Go! Oriental Angels” a popular talent competition in Shanghai.
To say that I am appalled is an understatement. I myself am a black American married to a Chinese woman and we are about to have a child. It seems like 80% of the comments from Chinese Netizens were blatant racist remarks; most seemingly by angry insecure men and women(芬请youth) who hide behind a keyboard. What scares me is that these comments can be from a workmate, or student you teach, or a teacher who teaches you Chinese, or quite possibly one of my wife’s friends. The potential is there.
Let’s give you the benefit of the doubt that American ideology cannot be applied to this situation; that racism cannot be applied in the Chinese sense. If this is the case then what has your 5000 year history taught you? You boast of your 54 ethnic minorities; but in the reality of your behavior I just don’t see it.
You constantly ask the world that you be given the benefit of the doubt; and to understand your culture because you are the victim of racism, separatist activity and unfair treatment; that Tibet and Xinjiang incidents are one and the same; but then I see Luo Jing. A woman who is half Chinese and whose native language is Chinese, whose mother is full blooded Chinese. If you can’t even accept your own people how can you make us believe that you can accept those people who are different from you. Many of you can’t even accept that an ABC(American Born Chinese) is Chinese.
This past generation America at least has opened its arms to you. You have built families in my country; yes it is my country. Though I am black my grand parents fought hard in the civil rights movement so that YOU and your parents could be held to an equal standard and prosper in and outside of the United States. They are the reason why you can type on your keyboards and say dirty words about blacks and your own people.
Zaire and Sudan have even allowed your country to drain their oil and natural reserves to feed your hungry mouths and drive your cars so that some of your 二奶 can ride around Shanghai and other parts in BMW’s. I’m so tired of the excuse that foreigners are taking “your” women. Foreigners didn’t invent the idea of putting newspaper on your license plates when your car is parked in front of a KTV. Look at yourselves before you judge others.

I call on you (Net Citizens on this website) to apologize to that innocent young woman and her mother, and to blacks you have defamed on a public forum. If not you risk sullying the reputation of the Chinese.
