Hi all,

I'm a new poster, and African-American. I'm preparing for a short business trip to Beijing and will bring my mom along (she has never traveled outside of the States).  We'll be staying in the university area of Beijing, but I'm a bit alarmed at the discussions of anti-black racism in Beijing. How big of a deal is that?

Is there a "tour guide" service hosted by African-American ex-pats for African Americans who are visiting in Beijing?

Thanks,

I don't think there is anything to worry about in that regard, your mom and yourself may dislike the looks if this is your first time but nobody is going to attack you because you are Black. Therefore I think you should just prepare your trip with an open mind and most chances are you will like your stay in Beijing. Have a nice trip!
