Hi all,

I come from Zambia, arrived in Beijing a couple of days ago will be staying here for about a month before moving to Hunan province to go and teach english. I have not seen that many black people around although have heard there are thousands that reside here - meeting and getting to know some of you would be a great help!!!

Thanks, Lilly.

Hi Lily welcome to Beijing. I guess with the weather now brothers and sisters are finding it safer to avoid going out...Where will you be working in Hunan?
Cheers,
Pat

Hunan is now suffering from snow storm. Do not go there until the sun comes out and after the serice of railway becomes normal. Grin

Zhuzhou is further down South of Changsha, the capital of Hunan province. It is very close to Mao's birthplace Xiangtan.

If you come from England, it is more less the same, wet, humid and cold at that time. Those falling from the sky is solid  ice instead of snow, they call it iced rain. But in the Summer it is hotter than Africa, they call it just like an oven. Grin

Zhuzhou isn't exactly crawling with foreigners... And Hunan summers are torrid, brutal and inhumane. Best of wishes, and if you are keen on seeing more charming locales, head west from Zhuzhou to GUILIN, then bus down south to YANGSHUO for a relaxed, relaxing holiday, sipping beer or freshly-brewed cappucino, and enjoying a fantastic landscape. The trip will take you just 8 hours by train and bus.
