i mean it's like c'mon.  it's one thing to talk about dating issues but it's like he's soliciting sex...not companionship.  other people have done it and we all joked about it but they were trying to find someone to kick it as if they went out to the club looking for a girl or guy.  they were straight up about their intentions too.

this thread sounds a bit like the older western tourists who go to africa looking for young female and males to have while they're there.  sex tourists they call them.  i'm sure there are a lot in china too.

Well, it's nice that you have concerns, I mean who wouldn't, but assumption my friend, well you know what they say about that one. I fail to see what this has to do with human trafficking since a, there is no compulsion in what I am looking for and b, I'm not seeking to take anybody anywhere. But if you have a problem with my search for companionship, by all means voice your concerns, but do not go throwing out red herrings, non-sequitors nor ad-hominems. I'm in my mid-30s, btw, English and willing to meet you if you are female.

mr. shankley and ninja, if you read my first response i did wish him luck on his search.  shankley can look for whoever he wants to.  i didn't say he was traffiking anyone either. i said it reminded me of the tourists in africa.  it just touched a nerve on traffiking cases i've encountered because some of them do start off like his thread in luring females.

i see cases of young females who live in the cyber cafes looking for solicitations like that thinking it will lead them to something good.

It depends what you define as a tourist in Africa. A friend who works in the NGO game showed me a recent report about the trade in under-aged sex in Kenyan tourist resorts stating that amongst the largest groups of those (sadly) purchasing such services were business travelers from neighboring African countries, after Germans and Italians. Anyhow, as you mention this is beyond the scope of the discussion and not what we are here to talk about.

I'm glad to see you mentioned fun, for at that is what lies at the heart of my request. I know too about the online romance-seekers on your continent, every singles page seems to have a disproportionate amount of members from Ghana and Nigeria (surprisingly with similar glamor model photos!). This too is not the nature of what I seek.

I'll be frank and honest with you. I travel in Asia a lot. Many years ago, in Bangkok, I met a Cameroonian woman with whom I embarked on a whirlwind holiday romance (in BKK of all places!). I've since met a great number of African women, and while I'm not one to pigeon-hole, there is generally something there I like. Alas the nature of my business keeps me away from your beautiful continent mostly, so I seek opportunities where they lie. Busy as I am, the internet opens such an avenue. I make no apology for exploiting this route.

I'm glad you know who you are, what you want and remain confident enough in yourself to realise that. You sound like a wonderful and worthy woman who I hope finds that to which she aspires.

No, I've not been a member of this forum before. I'm a white English man who simply has an interest in Africa and all things African. I'll try to post the report in the discussion forum at a later date as it's topical and of interest.

Now then, friend, where do you get off speaking like that? Apologies if I have offended in some way, but as another said here, 'tis a free world (relatively speaking, if you are in China I suppose). A great start, one would suppose, but looking for such a lady on a Norwegian or Iroquois Indian website would be counter-productive, wouldn't it now? As for the massage girls, they aren't really cut out for the kind of companionship I am seeking. I have nothing against the poor souls who do that kind of thing, but turning up to a restaurant, a club or any other spot one goes to for enjoyment kind of makes a fellow stick out, non? someone was looking for an african girl not too long ago and i think one of the guys suggested gaungzhou.  actually they were asking for african restaurants and where to find african girls.  poor guy he lived in a small town with no black females.

I think you guys should cut Shankly some slack.   He posted his request on the personal section and whoever's interested in knowing him should just contact him or something.

If he's looking for a f*ck buddy, who isn't? On the other hand, if he's not looking for something serious, there's no guarantee that he won't fall in love and wreck any other relationship he has going with anyone else (if any).

If you guys are "trippin'" because he's an Englishman looking for an African girl then that's discrimination.  If I were to ask a hundred African girls to name the race of the guy who broke their heart they'll probably say "he's black".  So black guys aren't that perfect either, now are they?

i definitely don't have any issues with shankly's race.  i was just commenting on his post which struck a nerve at first.  we've since made up and he's offered a round of drinks for us all...well at least the females.  right shankly??
