You'll leave Kenya as a hopeful teacher.   Within your first week in China you will realize you are but a student.

Free housing?  Sure.  And it will likely be worth what they charge you for it.  Longer term you are better off opting for more pay and paying for housing on your own.  That way when you quit (or start looking for a second job) because you realize your employer is not going to stick by the terms of the original employment agreement you won't be jobless and homeless.

It's a good thing you are coming here on a Z visa.  First time teachers in China usually find out the hard way what happens when you get caught working on a F or L visa.  You are coming in on a Z visa, right?  Or were you going to do a HK visa run after you've gotten hired?

China is a wonderful place.  You won't have to worry about people trying to cheat you because you are Kenyan.

You only have to worry about them trying to cheat you because you are not Chinese!

Hi, I teach English here in Shanghai at several different elementary schools.  I thought it would be easy to find an English job since Im from the U.S and have a bachelors degree, but it wasn't.  It took me about a month after I arrived to get a job, and I started looking back at home. The contract I have is for one year and does not include housing.  I found my own housing through one of the local agencies.  But there are plenty of schools that provide their teachers with housing or will help you find housing.  But you may want to check out where you will be living beforehand.  Before you sign a contract make sure you read it through several times and ask lots of questions.  You may have to share a kitchen, bathroom, or even the room itself with other foreign teachers.  One of the issues you may encounter is that many schools prefer you to be from Australia, UK or USA.  Also I think some schools can be a little discriminating in that their ideal teacher has blond hair and blue eyes.  Good Luck !

By the way, I can give you the contact information for my employer.  PM me if interested.

It's not one of the issues you may encounter, they are actually the main requirements. If you meet these requirements you won't even need to worry about any certificates or teaching experience. They don't really count here. You will be picked up at the airport and taken directly to your apartment, from where you will go to work the next morning and be probably made the head of department straight away. Get a white mask brother if you can afford one! If you can't, get a few big gold looking chains, some NBA shirts, high-heel sneakers and practise talking a lot about the NBA, rap and hip hop singers. A job will be waiting for you at the school nearest to the airport you will arrive at.
Peace!

Yeah! No kidding! All that paper work check we do back home is shit here bro. Meet the physical appearance required and you could soon be the technical adviser to the president here. If you still doubt it look at ads on classifieds sections of popular websites.
