New African Pub open in shanghai( HAKUNA MATATA)

hey guys, there is a new african pub open in shanghai , HAKUNA MATATA s the name of the joint.

all students can also enjoy some discount on drinks, no entry fee.  see you there!

i wonder if anyone goes there.

It was closed for some time, management problems I guess, and I don't know if it opened again since. I went there once but there were no African food so did not return. I am still looking forward the first real African restaurant in Shanghai.

Why not start the restaurant yourself?  Maybe you can start from your home and work your way out.  Somehow, some way...I'm moving to Shanghai next year...this small city stuff is for the birds....I don't have a set plan, but i wanna get something more African than bars and pubs started.  The black folk running Windows should be able to do something more than bars and pubs.   

Yes I taught about something similar but as one may say Shanghai is not a place for small business especially when you are foreigner. So it is difficult to have a out-of-the-garage Dell type business to grow significantly. But I think it is a matter of cooperation if several people join hands they should be able to get it going. And I think we should be able to share such ideas here at Afroshanghai.

There used to be an African restaurant a couple of years ago. It was run by a Chinese but the cooks were his African friends (students) and they even had an African band playing there. Food was quite good but it was mainly frequented by students who came for a free meal. Did not take much time for him to change the setting to Chinese restaurant.
