A Chinese botanical garden stands accused of some ingenious forgery, with park visitors claiming that they have painted black stripes on a white horse and passed it off as a zebra.
Owners of the Shenyang botanical park in north-eastern China have been charging 30 pence for a picture with the alleged zebra, even though its fluffy white hair and the uneven nature of the painted-stripes clearly show that it is, in fact, a horse.
After being asked by sceptical visitors if it really was a zebra, the feeder bluntly replied:
"It's from Africa. What do you call it, if it's not a zebra?"
Some park customers didn't appear to be especially perturbed by the blatant falsification, with one mother saying:
"We saw right away that the zebra is fake, but we are here for fun, so it doesn't really matter."
Trading standards authorities and animal rights groups might have a different view of the matter.
